Yulong Snow Mountain is the nearest equatorial mountain range in the northern hemisphere. It is located in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is distributed in the Hengduan Mountains and belongs to the Hengduan Mountains fold belt in geotectonics. The imperial monarch of Tang Dynasty named Yulong Mountain "Beiyue".
