Yulong Snow Mountain is the nearest equatorial mountain range in the northern hemisphere. It is located in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is distributed in the Hengduan Mountains and belongs to the Hengduan Mountains fold belt in geotectonics. Yulong Snow Mountain is one of the first national key scenic spots and provincial nature reserves, located about 15 kilometers north of Lijiang County. The mountain is 35 kilometers long from north to south, 25 kilometers wide from east to west and 960 square kilometers in area. It confronts the Haba Snow Mountain and gallops along the surging Jinsha River. There are 13 peaks in the whole mountain. The peak is snow-covered all the year round. Like a vigorous Yulong lying on the top of the mountain, it has the potential to leap into the Jinsha River. So it is called "Yulong Snow Mountain".

The imperial monarch of Tang Dynasty named Yulong Mountain "Beiyue". The propaganda of Yuan Dynasty made Li Jingfu, a Hejian poet, praise the poems: "Lijiang Snow Mountain is absolutely unique under heaven, with thousands of piles of accumulated Yudui Qiong". Xu Xiake, a great traveler in the Ming Dynasty, was so impressed by the local conditions of Lijiang that he said with emotion, "When you see Yulong hanging alone in front of the mountain, you will see many people ripple and win." In the Ming and early Qing Dynasties, Yulong Mountain was listed as one of the famous mountains. In the 1940s, Li Lincan, a famous scholar and former vice-president of Taiwan Palace Museum, visited Lijiang for several years, and expressed his admiration for Yulong Snow Mountain's soul.

Spruce Plain: Take the mountain climbing cable car built in Baishui River Villa and take you to the cable car station in 10 minutes. Then you can ride along the wooden plank trestle built in the forest, or on the Lijiang pony rented by the local Yi girl, and you can get to another beautiful place in Yulong Snow Mountain, Spruce Plain. Spruce Flat is a forest grassland in the east of Yulong Snow Mountain, about 0.5 square kilometers, about 3000 meters above sea level.
